General Information :
Department of Environmental Engineering and Safety was established in October 1995 as a department of Technological Faculty of Moscow State University of Technology. The main objective is the education of diploma engineers in the specialization 330200 Environmental Engineering in Application to Machine-Building Industry and specialization 330500 Safety of Technological Processes in Machine-Building Industry.
The Department offers the degrees of Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, Candidate of Technical Sciences (Russian equivalent to Ph.D.), and Doctor of Technical Sciences in the field 553500 Environmental Protection in Application to Machine-Building Industry. The educational programs include the advanced courses on environmental engineering and environmental sciences.
The Federal Inter-Universities Research and Training Center of Russian Ministry of High Education is based on the Department, and provide the short-time and middle-time training and re-training courses for managers and experts in the field of ecological safety and safety of labor.
The educational programs are oriented for preparing of engineers capable to design the new engineering systems and technologies with minimal impact on environment and to manage the environmental problems in machine-building industry.
Department has been leading The Council on Educational Methods of Russian Ministry of High Education in field of environmental engineering. The Council consolidates 128 Russian technical universities, and responsibilities of Department in the Council include:
Department has the co-operation relations with technical universities of France, Poland, Czech Republic, China, Bulgaria, Israel, UK, Turkey, Sweden, Ukraine.
Department participates in the TEMPUS-TASIS Joint European Project (1998-2001) Resources, Industry, Environment: Strengthening of the New Graduate Curriculum in Russian Universities.
Research Interests:
The following scientific directions in the subject field represent the research interests of Department, and department professors lead related research groups:
The system of automatic supply of the technological equipment quality with implementation of the environmental factors is designed. Ministry of High Education of Russian Federation supports the project.
The factors that are show the relative danger of the certain technology and certain technological equipment were designed and applied to optimization of the production process. Ministry of High Education of Russian Federation supports the project. Contribution to official environmental expertise of federal and local programs and projects. Official expertise supported by Federal Expert Board.
The consuming of energy at all stages of design, production and using of food is study. Project supported by University.
The original mathematical models of conflicts between industrial enterprises and environment were designed to study the major inter-links between players, and the relations between resolution of the conflicts and sustainable development. The simplified models are using in the process of teaching. Project supported by University.
Design and study of the high level BOD-models, developing of the 3-D modelling of contaminant plume in air. Project supported by Russian Foundation of Basic Research, Grunt 97-05-65352.
Set of mathematical models of simulation of the water exchange and water quality in the enclosed coastal water-bodies is developed and adopted for various places in Russia and Turkey. Project supported by Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) and Russian Ministry of Sciences and Technologies as a two-side project.
The new parameterization of the diffusion theory of suspended sediment vertical distribution was developed after theoretical and experimental work. New parameterization is involved to the numerical model of suspended sediment and contamination transport by surface waves and current. Project supported by Russian Foundation of Basic Research, Grunt 96-05-66231.
In co-operation with Tel-Aviv University (Israel), University of Lund (Sweden) and Odessa Hydro-meteorological University (Ukraine) the system of control of water pollution in industrial coastal region, conservation of the coastal ecosystems and ecological safety is developed and adopted. Project supported by INTAS (International Association for the promotion of co-operation with scientists from the New Independent States of the former Soviet Union), Grunt 96-2077.
Modelling of interaction links between industrial enterprise by modelling of waste flows, development of guidelines on management. Project supported by University.
